Above Capricorn

Underpainting is explored using unseen strata of fabric - dyed, felted and painted - to inform the uppermost layers, creating the illusion of depth. The topography of the tropics, as seen from space, is suggested and then refined in stitch, using the bright colours of the anticipated sunrise. This piece forms part of the OZquilt Network's travelling exhibition, "Australia Wide".
