Rosetta

Artist's Statement

When I am working, I allow room for "a power not me" (to me, God, but I realize not to everyone) to work as well. The backgrounds for both Rosetta and Honeyjar were created by felting wool tops onto thick gauze and then painting and colouring with dyes. In the process, the colours ran and printed themselves into flows and patterns. This was the inspiration for the final layering - a dance between myself, each piece and that other power - as the artwork grows and takes form. It is a spiritual quest to incorporate the meaning of the external landscape into the reality of the internal one.

Rosetta was selected for the Art Quilts at the Sedgwick 2006 (AQATS 2006), now known as "Art Quilts on the Square".
